Diesel and Rocky

Meet our guard dogs.

Diesel (the black one) is a Rottweiler, and around 9 years old.

Rocky is an Anatolian Shepherd, a rescue. He is around 3, but likes to think he is still a puppy 

Living in Johannesburg, guard dogs are a necessary deterrent to crime.  They live in the yard (as dogs aren’t allowed in the house in Islam) but they are beloved pets, and love to play with us.

Here you can see them staying outside this door as they aren’t allowed inside. The loyalty of this animal amazes me. And it ashame me at the same time.

The only people that matters for them are us. They have eyes only for us. They will willingly give their lives for us. Shouldn’t I be better than a dog when it comes to the obedience and loyalty to my Master?

The other day Rocky left a bird he was about to catch when my daughter told him to leave it. For a dog leaving it’s prey is going against his instinct. But he did it for the master. Shouldn’t we be able to go against our desires for our Master?

May Allah grant us obedience to Him. And may He let us a lesson or two from His creation.
