Take That First Step

Or (their deeds) are like layers of darkness in a vast deep sea overwhelmed by a wave, above which there is another wave, above which there are clouds – layers of darkness, one above the other. When one puts forth his hand, he can hardly see it; and the one to whom Allah does not give light can have no light at all.

-Sura An-Nur, Ayah 40

My 13 year old daughter has written this ayah on the image of a dark sea and made it her desktop wallpaper. So she can read it often and remember.

She often writes ayaat like this on images. Ayaat that touch her, ayaat that make an impact on her.

People often ask me tips to connect their children to Quran. Studying Arabic has connected us to the word of Allah as nothing else could do. Alhamdulillah.

It may feel overwhelming to start but once you take the plunge, things get easier and easier. Remember when we stand with the intention of going to Allah, He starts walking towards us. And when we start walking towards Him, He comes to us running. (According to a saheeh hadeeth)
