بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and earth, and the alternation of the night and the day, and the [great] ships which sail through the sea with that which benefits people, and what Allah has sent down from the heavens of rain, giving life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness and dispersing therein every [kind of] moving creature, and [His] directing of the winds and the clouds controlled between the heaven and the earth are signs for a people who use reason.
al-Baqarah : 164
Quran is filled with invitation to ponder over Allah’s creation. Allah calls earth and sky and clouds and the clash between day and night His miraculous signs.
But in order to think over Allahs signs, we first need to free our minds and our time from the unnecessary.
Take an average person who rushes through their day. No doubt we have sustenance to earn, and families to take care of. But our lives are also in a constant rush between buying stuff and using stuff. When have you last looked at clouds and wonder at the marvel of rain?
We hardly every look at sky, or stop to smell rain, or admire the beauty of a sunset. We were born with a sense of awe, of wonder. But we have killed that sense of wonder somewhere along our journey to adulthood. We have forgotten to feel the awe at the creation in our obsession over materials.
But Allah wants us to take care of this sense of wonder, to nurture it, to nourish it. He invites us to think deeply. He wants us to reflect and ponder and think and ask questions.
He doesn’t want us to fill our minds with fluff.
He doesn’t want us so occupied by the useless hum drum of this life that we forget the miracles happening around us every day. He wants us to take our minds off the “who will marry whom” fiction. He wants us to leave that cell phone alone for a while. He wants us to stop hypnotising ourselves with the newest craze in games. He wants us to think deeper and ask bigger questions than what to eat and what to wear.
He wants us to love Him through His creation.
سبحانك اللهم و بحمدك نشهد ان لااله الّا انت نستغفرك و نتوب اليك
