بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
We discussed previously that Shaitan beautifies the evil deeds for us. But if we look carefully at the anatomy of a sin, it is nothing but a small moment of incomplete pleasure yet we trade an eternity of bliss for it.
So if a sin doesn’t surmounts to much, why humanity is taken in by it, enmass? Because what shaitan offers us is instant gratification, even if it is less. And what Allah offers us is infinite yet it is not for instant grabs. We have to wait to get it, sometimes wait until we die.
“Indeed, mankind was created anxious (impatient)” [Almaarij, ayat 19]
Getting things quick is one of the innate desires of human being, it is part of our genetic make-up, so to speak. It is what makes us ambitious but it is what makes us leave the path of truth. And shaitan knows our weakness better than we do.
One of the biggest attraction of sin is the instant reward. And even if we see through all the stage props surrounding the sin, this one attraction still tempt us like nothing else. So what should we do when faced with a temptation which is completely in accordance with our very own nature?
“And if there comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.” [al Fussilat, ayat 36]
Turn to Allah in humility. He is aware of the enormity of the temptation, the upheaval of the emotion, the desire that makes us tremble and the weakness that engulfs us.
He will grant you the strength to stand tall and say “No” to shaitan. Try it!
